Larry Massie

Aug. 16, 1950 — Nov. 24, 2018

Larry Keith Massie, 68, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Nov. 24, 2018, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Kentucky. The Ironton native was born Aug. 16, 1950, the son of the late Clinton and Garnet Lester Massie. He is survived by his wife, Annette Alban Massie, whom he married on June 27, 1981.
Mr. Massie was a graduate of Ironton High School and attended Shawnee State University. He was a former diesel mechanic, retiring in 2016. He was a member of Sharon Baptist Church and loved bike riding, hiking, studying history, remodeling homes and traveling.
In addition to his wife, Larry is survived by two brothers, Clinton Massie, of Ironton, and Gary (Mary) Massie, of Taylor Mill, Kentucky; three sisters-in-law, Jennifer Scott, of Loveland, Elaine Alban, of Ironton, and Sandy Alban, of Nicholasville, Kentucky; a niece, Rachel Massie, of Taylor Mill, Kentucky; nephews, Clint Massie, Kyle Massie and Ryan Massie, all of Taylor Mill, Kentucky, and Austin Alban, of Nicholasville, Kentucky; and an aunt, Nola Crabtree, of Huntington, West Virginia.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, William Massie; and two brothers-in-law, Austin Alban and Judson Scott.
Funeral services will be noon Thursday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Steve Harvey officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until the time of the service Thursday at the funeral home. Special thanks to the ICU staff at Bellefonte Hospital. Eugene Lyon

Sept. 2, 1947 — Nov. 25, 2018

Eugene J. “Shocker” Lyon, 71, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at his home. He was born Sept. 2, 1947, in Ashland, Kentucky, a son of the late Noah Manford Lyon and Mildred Sammons Lyon.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Robert Shawn Lyon and Shannon Matthew Lyon; and a twin sister, Darlene Kay Rice.
He was a member of Ohio Baptist Church, Ironton.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jo Ann Lyon; two children, Wayne Eugene Lyon, of Syracuse, Indiana, and Shane Manford, of Ironton; a brother, Joe Manford Lyon, of Lancaster, Kentucky; and three grandchildren, Robert Clayton Lyon, Dustin J. Lyon and Shannon Matthew Lyon.
Memorial service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Ohio Baptist Church, Ironton, with pastor Homer Campbell officiating. Friends may visit from noon-2 p.m. Thursday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Ohio Baptist Church. Charles Stapleton

July 9, 1953 — Nov. 25, 2018

Charles Junior Stapleton, 65, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2018, at his residence. The Oberlin native was born July 9, 1953, a son of the late Charles T. and Leatha Wagner Stapleton.
Charles was a graduate of Ironton High School, lived all his life in Ironton and was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol Jean Stapleton.
He is survived by brothers, Gary L. Stapleton, of Barboursville, West Virginia, and David E. Stapleton, Carl D. Stapleton and Thomas M. Stapleton, all of Ironton.
