3 sentenced to prison in common pleas court

Three defendants were sentenced to prison in Lawrence County Common Pleas Court this week. Drug cases also continue to make up the bulk of the court docket, with numerous defendants facing drug charges, with the majority being methamphetamine and heroin.

• Frederick Jenkins Jr., 40, of 306 High St., Coal Grove, previously pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a fourth-degree felony, tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, and possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a felony of the fifth-degree. Judge Charles Cooper sentenced him to 47 months in prison. In two other cases, he is facing charges of tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, and failure to appear, a fourth-degree felony. Pretrial in those cases was set for Dec. 19.

• David Wilson, 27, of 154 Township Road 1336, Apt. 18, South Point, pleaded guilty to attempted illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution, a third-degree felony. Cooper sentenced him to 11 months in prison with credit for time served.

• Donald Sisler, 28, of 2163 County Road 22, Ironton, previously pleaded guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a fourth-degree felony, trafficking in heroin, a third-degree felony, having weapons while under disability, a third-degree felony, illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution, a third-degree felony, and resisting arrest, a misdemeanor of the second-degree. Judge Andy Ballard sentenced him to three years in prison with credit for time served, and ordered him to pay court costs.

In other cases:

• Nathan Craft, 41, of 1636 Gainsway Drive, Gallipolis, pleaded not guilty to possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony, possession of a controlled substance (Suboxone), a first-degree misdemeanor, and possession of marijuana, a minor misdemeanor. Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety. Pretrial was set for Dec. 12.

• Shasta Jenkins, 34, of 5207 County Road 19, Kitts Hill, pleaded not guilty to two counts of failure to appear, both fourth-degree felonies. Cooper set bond at $25,000 cash or surety or $50,000 property. She is also facing possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, in another case, which was continued.

• Donald Large, 39, of 126 North St., Coal Grove, pleaded not guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $40,000 cash or surety. Pretrial was set for Dec. 12.

• Summer Paradise, 26, of 27 ½ Quick Road, Elkview, West Virginia, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, a fifth-degree felony, identity fraud, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia and possession of marijuana, both minor misdemeanors. Cooper sentenced her to four years community-controlled sanctions (CCS) under intensive supervised probation (ISP) with 22 months reserved, and ordered her to complete STAR.

• Curtis Ratcliff, 43, of 77 Township Road 1019, South Point, admitted CCS violations. Cooper sentenced him to nine months in prison. In another case, he is facing possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set pretrial in that case for Dec. 19.

• Keenan Rowe, 18, of 1418 S. Second St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety. Pretrial was set for Dec. 19.

• Danny Stickler, 19, of 1418 S. Second St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $10,000 cash or surety. Pretrial was set for Dec. 19.

• Rodney Turvey, 44, of 305 County Road 103, Ironton, pleaded not guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a fourth-degree felony, aggravated trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a second-degree felony, and possession of criminal tools, a felony of the fifth-degree. Cooper set bond at $75,000 cash or surety. Pretrial was set for Dec. 19.

• Kellie Vickers, 38, of 412 S. Ninth St., Apt. 3, Ironton, denied CCS violations. Cooper set CCS trial for Dec. 12.

• Jackie Miller, 57, of 373 Township Road 44, Ironton, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), both fifth-degree felonies, and tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony. Cooper set sentencing for Jan. 9.

• Breanna Boggess, 30, of 1718 S. Fourth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to burglary, a second-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $50,000 cash or surety. In another case, she previously pleaded not guilty to receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony. Pretrial in both cases was set for Dec. 12.

• Heather Christian, 30, of 2535 S. Third St., Ironton, admitted CCS violations. Cooper sentenced her to six months in jail.

• Shawn Ferguson, 25, of 1343 County Road 2, Chesapeake, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in marijuana, a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set bond at $10,000 OR, and ordered him to continue treatment at Riverside Recovery Services. Pretrial was set for Dec. 26.

• Steven Fletcher, 29, of 2002 Little Solida Road, South Point, pleaded guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Cooper set sentencing for Dec. 26.

• Rhonda Greenhill, 42, of Grayson, Kentucky, admitted CCS violations. Cooper sentenced her to nine months in prison.

• William Howell, 43, of 2009 S. Seventh St., Ironton, admitted CCS violations. Cooper sentenced him to 90 days in jail with credit for time served.

• Jacob Spencer, 24, of 109 Second Ave., Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to possession of a controlled substance (heroin), a fifth-degree felony, trafficking in drugs (heroin), a fifth-degree felony, possession of drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor, resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a fourth-degree misdemeanor. Cooper sentenced him to four years CCS under ISP with 11 months reserved, and ordered him to complete STAR.

• Franklin Aldridge, 36, of 801 S. Seventh St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $50,000 cash or surety and $100,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Dec. 19.

• James Cade, 40, of 1122 S. Fourth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a second-degree felony, aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a third-degree felony, and possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 cash or surety and $35,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Dec. 4.

• Johna Dodson, 18, of 48 State Route 217, Kitts Hill, pleaded not guilty to felonious assault, a second-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $100,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Feb. 27, where she will be given a final offer. If she rejects the final offer, trial is set for March 14-15.

• Alisha Foster, 30, of 115 S. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded guilty to illegal conveyance of prohibited items onto the grounds of a detention facility or institution, a third-degree felony. She was eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, and Ballard placed her on CCS, and ordered her to complete treatment, STAR, 200 hours community service and the Thinking for a Change program.

• Joseph Gardner, 31, of 901 Powell Lane, Apt. 18, Flatwoods, Kentucky, pleaded not guilty to possession of cocaine, a fifth-degree felony, possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a felony of the third-degree. Ballard continued bond at $35,000 cash or surety from lower court and set an OR bond. Pretrial was set for Dec. 12.

• Savannah Jenkins, 30, of 2615 S. Fifth St., Ironton, pleaded not guilty to trafficking in drugs (methamphetamine), a second-degree felony, and aggravated possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a third-degree felony. In another case, she previously pleaded not guilty to failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer, a third-degree felony, and resisting arrest, a second-degree misdemeanor. Ballard set bond at $35,000 cash or surety and $100,000 OR, and placed her on GPS monitoring.

• Timothy Kerns, 42, of 27 ½ Quick St., Elkview, West Virginia, pleaded not guilty to identity fraud, a fifth-degree felony, and receiving stolen property, also a fifth-degree felony. Ballard set bond at $15,000 cash or surety and $15,000 OR. Pretrial was set for Dec. 12.

• Ryan McCloud, 31, of 81 Private Drive 550, South Point, pleaded guilty to theft of a motor vehicle, a fourth-degree felony. Ballard set sentencing for Dec. 12, and set a $50,000 OR bond and placed him on GPS home confinement until then.

• Jeremy Slone, 36, of 1110 Township Road 1278B, Chesapeake, pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, a fourth-degree felony, possession of heroin, a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drug abuse instruments, a second-degree misdemeanor. Ballard set sentencing for Dec. 4, and set a $50,000 OR bond and placed him on GPS home confinement until then.

• Christopher Sowards, 31, of Huntington, West Virginia, admitted CCS violations. Ballard set sentencing for Dec. 4.

• Ryley Williams, 19, of 451 Mitchell Road, Gallipolis, pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence, a third-degree felony, possession of drugs (methamphetamine), a fifth-degree felony, and possession of drugs (Alprazolam), a first-degree misdemeanor. He was eligible for intervention in lieu of conviction, and Ballard ordered him to complete treatment and 200 hours community service.
