SOUTH WEBSTER — The Fairland Dragons may not be picky eaters, but they are picky about their shot selection.
The Dragons took just 36 shots but made 19 for a 50 percent shooting performance as they beat the South Webster Jeeps 51-38 on Tuesday.
Clayton Thomas scored 15 points for the Dragons as he hit 4-of-8 from behind the 3-point arc. Aiden Porter added 12 points while Austin Gartin and Ian Chinn scored nine each.
Jacob Polcyn had seven rebounds and two assists and Matt Mondlak six rebounds and three assists for the Dragons (1-0) who were missing the injured Joel Lambiotte.
Shiloah Blevins had 18 points and seven rebounds for the Jeeps. Samuel Holstein grabbed seven rebounds, too.
Fairland led 8-4 after the first quarter thanks to a pair of 3-pointers by Thomas.
Porter hit a 3-pointer and scored seven points in the second quarter to offset six points by Blevins as the Dragons led 23-17 at halftime.
Fairland led 39-26 after three quarters as Chinn scored all of his points and Thomas hit another triple as he scored five points.
Porter nailed a 3-pointer and two foul shots and each team scored 12 points in the final stanza.
Fairland hosts the all-day Big E Classic on Saturday with the Dragons playing Prep Regional at 8 p.m.
