Ralph Tyo

June 7, 1943 — Dec. 5, 2018

Ralph Edward Tyo, 75, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Community Hospice Care Center. The Lawrence County native was born June 7, 1943, a son of the late Arthur and Mayme Wineaka Tyo. He is survived by his loving wife, Faye Marie Stamper Tyo.
Ralph was a 1961 graduate of Dawson-Bryant schools and the Ashland Barber College. Ralph was a U.S. Army combat medic during the Vietnam War, where he was a Bronze Star recipient. He was a former employee of Semet Solvay and a retired barber. He was a former pastor and a member at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church. Since 1974, Ralph was a minister with the Ohio Baptist Association, a past commander and chaplain of the Symmes Valley VFW Post 2761, a member of the Symmes Valley Am Vets Post 141, and American Legion Post 806. He was also a member of the Singing Kernels and the South Point Masonic Lodge.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Christina McKenzie, of Ironton, and Misty (Don) Gantzer, of West Union; a brother, Gary Tyo, of Deering; a sister, Karen Tyo, of South Point; 10 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with Bro. Dave Shug and the Rev. Rock Massie officiating. Burial will follow in Lawrence Furnace Cemetery with military graveside rites by the Symmes Valley VFW. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Rick Malone

June 13, 1956 — Dec. 6, 2018

Rick Malone, 62, of Moscow, passed away Thursday, Dec. 6, 2018, at the Adams County Regional Medical Center. The Ironton native was born June 13, 1956, a son of the late Ruelie and Ruth White Malone.
He attended Waterloo schools and was an industrial painter for over 20 years for Cincinnati Milacron.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Kem Malone; a sister, Brenda Hanshaw; and a grandson, Ethan Hoofnel.
He is survived by three daughters, Alyssa (Johnny) Hoofnel, of Cincinnati, and Stacey Malone and Stephanie Doll, both of Mt. Orab; two sisters, Joyce (Gene) Payne, of Waterloo, and Pat Jett, of Benson, Arizona; a brother, Jerry Malone, of Batavia; a sister-in-law, Jeniffer Petrie, of Harrisburg, North Carolina; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral services will be noon Saturday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Bob Powell officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery and visitation will be 11 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.
