Chesapeake whips Wayne

CHESAPEAKE — There was no waiting until the fourth quarter to jump start the offense this time.
Although the Chesapeake Panthers got only nine points in the first quarter, their offense got rolling in the second quarter as they cruised to a 71-44 win over the Wayne Pioneers on Saturday.
Eli Archer led three players in double figures and 11 different players scored as the Panthers improved to 4-2.
Archer had 13 points, Levi Blankenship 11 and Travis Grim 10 to pace the Panthers. Tyler Hutchison added nine points.
Daniel Bryant had 17 points for Wayne (1-3).
The game was tied 9-9 at the end of the first quarter as Josh Cox and Archer had four points each.
Archer scored seven points and Blankenship had five points including a 3-pointer as the Panthers outscored Wayne 22-10 and it was 31-19 at the break.
Grimm scored eight of his points in the third quarter, Hutchison had six points and Blankenship hit another trey and scored six points as the lead ballooned to 55-29.
The Panthers outscored Wayne 16-15in the fourth quarter as Zander Schmidt hit a triple and scored five points and Logan Walsh added four points. Trent Dearth also had a triple for Chesapeake.
The Panthers are at Chillicothe Southeastern on Tuesday.
