Nance is new South Point principal
Former Ironton superintendent begins job in January
SOUTH POINT — South Point Superintendent Mark Christian said the district has selected a new high school principal.
Former Ironton Superintendent Dean Nance will begin in the position on Jan. 3.
Nance will be taking over for Ben Coleman, who is leaving for a job in Kentucky.
Christian said Nance applied for the posted job and was interviewed by the school board and his hire was approved in a 5-0 vote.
“He had my recommendation,” Christian said of Nance, with whom he had worked as a superintendent.
He said Nance had already visited the school this week to introduce himself to students and staff.
Nance, who resigned as Ironton superintendent earlier this year, previously served as Ironton High principal.
“We think he’d be a great asset,” Christian said. “He has a feel for things and can step in and take over. We’re very pleased.”
