Fees on the agenda

Due to a scheduled power outage at the Ironton City Center, the Ironton City Council will meet at the Ironton Fire Department at 5 p.m. tonight.

Council’s Finance Committee will meet at 5 p.m. to discuss the final city budget, a utility bill, a contract with the fire department, the city’s union employees and a resolution dealing with the pay rates for the city’s non-union employees.

The regular council meeting will begin at 6 p.m. when they will vote on ordinances dealing with pay rates and the final budget.

There will also be a third reading on the possible fee increases, including the hotel/motel excise tax, water fee, city utility and service fees, flood prevention fees, sanitation fees, storm water and waste water fees.

The ordinances for utility/municipal, water, flood prevention and wastewater fees will probably not be passed since similar ordinances were adopted at the council’s Dec. 15 meeting.

There will also be a discussion on an ordinance that had previously been tabled, which is to hold property owners responsible for utility and monthly service fees rather than renters.

The meeting is open to the public.
