PEDRO — The Rock Hill Redmen are hoping the new year will bring something new for the basketball team.
Like no more overtime games.
For the third straight game, the Redmen went into overtime and suffered their third straight loss as they fell to the Southeastern Panthers 56-52 on Saturday.
The Redmen (3-5) had a balanced offense as Kadin France scored 13 points, Logan Hankins 11, Owen Hankins 10 and both Garrett Miller and Braden Stamper nine points.
France also had nine rebounds and Stamper seven.
Southeastern was paced by Reece Wheeler with 15 points. Lane Ruby scored 13 and Aaron Gillum added 12.
The Panthers led 15-10 after the first quarter as Ruby had a 3-pointer and scored seven points while Aarick Hill scored six of his nine points.
Logan Hankins hit a 3-pointer and scored five points while Miller also made a trey.
Rock Hill rallied in the second quarter as Owen Hankins came off the bench to score seven points and Stamper added four points to go in front 23-22 at the half. Aiden Estep had five of the Panthers’ seven points.
Wheeler and Gillum combined for 11 points as Southeastern tied the game at 35 in the third quarter. Logan Hankins scored five points and France four more for the Redmen.
France and Miller combined for nine points while Gillum scored seven points and Wheeler five as both teams had 13 points in the fourth quarter to send the game into overtime.
The Panthers were 6-of-8 form the foul line in the extra quarter and Ruby added a basket as they outscored the Redmen 8-4.
Rock Hill visits Ironton on Friday.
