Boil notice issued for 380 customers
About 380 Hecla Water customers were without water on Thursday due to a water line break.
According to engineer Tim Dalton, a break occurred on Indian Guyan Creek, near the intersection of State Route 243 and County Road 2 on Wednesday night and some customers had been without water since 10 p.m. that night.
He said crews have been working since the break to replace the line and hoped they could get service back on Thursday night.
He said customers who have experienced water loss are also under a boil advisory notice and notifications were sent to those people by text and phone.
Dalton said those without water can bring containers to Hecla’s maintenance garage on State Route 141, across from their office, or to their water treatment plant on State Route 7.
Dalton said the boil notice could be expanded if tanks drop and up to 7,400 customers could lose water. That this could include Rock Hill schools, who have been notified about possible interruptions for Friday.
