GALLIPOLIS — Maybe copying yourself is the key.
The Chesapeake Lady Panthers started each half with scoring runs and used them to run past the Gallipolis Blue Angels 44-29 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Thursday.
Corrine Ferguson had four points, Sammie McComas and Blake Anderson two each as Chesapeake jumped out to an 8-0 lead and never trailed.
Leading 8-3 heading into the second quarter, Karli Davis hit a 3-pointer and Ferguson and Maddie Ward each scored four points as Chesapeake took a 20-14 halftime lead.
Maddy Petro scored eight points and Brooklyn Hill made a 3-pointer for Gallipolis in the quarter.
The Lady Panthers went on another run as they scored 13 unanswered points to start the second half and open up a 33-14 lead.
Kandace Pauley, Anderson and Davis all hit 3-pointers with Anderson scoring five points and Ward four more in the quarter and the lead was now 40-21.
Junon Ohmura hit a trifecdta for the Blue Angels in the quarter.
Gallipolis got five points from Petro and Preslee Reed score three as Gallipolis managed to outscore Chesapeake 8-4, but it was not enough to overcome the huge deficit.
Anderson had nine points to lead a balanced Chesapeake offense. Davis, Ward and Ferguson all scored eight points each.
Ward had six rebounds and five assists, Davis four steals and two blocked shots, Ferguson seven rebounds and four steals, and Anderson had two blocks.
Petro had a game-high 17 points, 12 rebounds and four blocks for Gallipolis. Hunter Copley added four rebounds and three steals while Ohmura had three assists.
Chesapeake visits Symmes Valley on Monday.
