Samuel Wilson

Samuel Matthew Wilson, 46, of Coal Grove, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Edward Wilson; and three sisters, Kathy May Wilson, Linda Louise Wilson and Connie Sue “Wilson” Miller.
Samuel is survived by his mother, Vada Loraine Wilson; his wife, Betty Marie Wilson, of Coal Grove; two daughters, Christina Porter, of Coal Grove, and Krystalyn Brockwell, of North Carolina; one son, Samuel Wilson Jr., of Coal Grove; one stepdaughter, Miranda Wilson, of Proctorville; one stepson, Brandon Dickson, of Proctorville; two sisters, Sally Wilson, of Coal Grove, and Jill Johnson, of Coal Grove; five brothers, Carl Wilson, Ernest Wilson, George Wilson, Jerry Wilson and Dickie Wilson, all of Coal Grove; and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.
A very special thank you to Sam’s niece, Savannah Wilson, for being his caretaker. She was special to Sam and he loved her very much.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Community Tabernacle Church, Coal Grove, with pastor Mark Adkins officiating. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-2 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in McKenzie Cemetery, Ironton. Schneier-Hall Funeral Home, Chesapeake, is assisting the family with arrangements. Stephanie Blackwell

Feb. 1, 1960 — Jan. 11, 2019

Stephanie D. Blackwell, of South Point, passed away Friday, Jan. 11, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She was born Feb. 1, 1960, in Huntington, West Virginia to the late Robert Arthur and Sandra Stephens Kizzee.
She was preceded in death by one son-in-law, Mike McMahon.
She was the wife of David Blackwell. She was a member of the Gospel Light Baptist Church of Ashland.
Other survivors include son, Ryan Blackwell, of Martinsburg, West Virginia; daughter, Jessica Nicole McMahon, of Ironton; grandchildren, Brody Blackwell, Mikenzi McMahon, Brennan McMahon, Branden Blackwell, Emily Blackwell, Matthew Blackwell and Luke Blackwell; brothers, Robert Kizzee and Dean Kizzee; and sisters, Kelli J. Jenkins and Donna Moore. She adored her grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be 10 a.m.-noon today at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton. Funeral service will start at noon at the funeral home with Jason Porter officiating. Burial will be in Veterans National Cemetery in Carter County, Kentucky.

 

Gloria Sexton

Aug. 12, 1925 — Jan. 14, 2019

Gloria Eastham Sexton, 93, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Jan. 14, 2019, at a local health care facility. The Ironton native was born Aug. 12, 1925, a daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Eastham and Wilma Robinson Eastham. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Claude “Doc” Sexton.
Gloria attended Ironton High School and was a former waitress. She was a member of the Moose Lodge and of the Protestant faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by seven brothers, Joseph, Earl, George, John, Grover, Carl and Paul Eastham; and two sisters, Marietta Carpenter and Julia Ravencraft.
She is survived by a son, Randy (Sharon) Sexton Jr., of Ironton; four grandchildren; give great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.
