HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — The St. Joseph Lady Flyers took the good with the bad.
The Lady Flyers played well at times, and not so well at other times during Monday’s game. But the good outweighed the bad as they took a 41-25 win over the Covenant Lady Eagles.
“We played pretty well, but there we times when got impatient on offense,” said Lady Flyers’ coach Bart Burcham.
“We got a big lead early and then lost some of our intensity and focus. We need to be more consistent, stay within ourselves on offense. We still played hard all the time.”
Bella Whaley had 13 points and seven rebounds to lead a balanced St. Joseph offense.
Kaitlyn Sheridan scored eight points, Emilee Blankenship had six points and seven rebounds, Chloe Sheridan scored six points and Faith Mahlmeister pulled down seven rebounds.
Karleigh Collins and Kassie Venoy scored six points each for Convenant.
Bella Whaley hit a 3-pointer and scored seven points in the first quarter as St. Joseph jumped in front 13-2.
Sheridan scored four points with Blankenship and Chloe Sheridan adding baskets and it was 21-7 at the break.
Bella Whaley scored six more points and Emma Whaley hit a 3-pointer and scored four points as the Lady Flyers opened up a 33-14 cushion in the third quarter.
Grace Hayley had four points as the Lady Eagles outscored the Lady Flyers 11-8 in the fourth quarter. Chloe Sheridan had four points for St. Joseph.
St. Joseph visits Rock Hill on Wednesday.
