PEDRO — Cleaning the glass enabled the Gallipolis Blue Devils to clean up.
Gallipolis dominated the rebounding and beat the Rock Hill Redmen 58-34 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Tuesday and remained tied for second place.
The difference was on the boards where Gallipolis had 18 offensive rebounds and Rock Hill had only 15 total including five on offense.
Gallipolis (8-4, 6-2) had three players in double figures led by Logan Blouir with 15 and Cory Call with 14. Justin McClelland hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points.
Rock Hill (3-10, 0-8) got 10 points from Braydon Malone while Logan Hankins scored seven. Jake Blagg had three assists and four steals and Kadin France five rebounds.
Rock Hill shot 40 percent from the field but only got 35 attempts due to the lack of offensive rebounding.
The Blue Devils were up 17-8 at the end of the first quarter as McClelland hit a pair of 3-pointers, Blouir had five points including a trey and Call scored six. Malone had half of Rock Hill’s points.
Neither team had much offensive in the second quarter and it was 23-15 at the half.
But Gallipolis began to put the game away in the third quarter by outscoring Rock Hill 21-6 to put the lead at 44-21.
Blouir had eight points in the quarter as he converted 6-of-8 from the foul line. McClelland hit another 3-pointer and scored five points.
On Friday, Rock Hill visits Chesapeake and Gallipolis hosts Ironton.
