Gail Blair

May 24, 1940 — Jan. 20, 2019

Gail Marie Brammer Blair, 78, of Coal Grove, passed away Sunday, Jan. 20, 2019, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, Kentucky. The Ironton native was born May 24, 1940, the daughter of the late Leo M. and Gladys Gool Brammer. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Walton Howell Blair.
Gail was a graduate of South Point High School and attended Ashland Business School. She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a member of South Point Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a son, Walton “BJ” (Donna F.) Blair, of Coal Grove; a daughter, Lisa Lynn (Mike) Allen, of Coal Grove; a sister, Judith Damron, of Coal Grove; grandchildren, Amber (Stephen) Hickman, of Conway, South Carolina, and Cassandra Spencer and Nick Blair, both of Coal Grove; great-grandchildren, Gage Caudill, of Coal Grove, Braylen Massie, of Conway, South Carolina, Bronson Hickman, of Conway, South Carolina, and Evelyn Stambaugh, of Coal Grove; and two special nieces, Kelli (Jimmy) Bowman, of Coal Grove, and Emily Bowman.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with the Rev. Jim Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Carolyne Baker

Nov. 22, 1943 — Jan. 21, 2019

Carolyne Sue Baker, of Ironton, passed away Monday, Jan. 21, 2019. She was born Nov. 22, 1943, in Ironton to the late Herman Jarvis and Sarah Lewis Jarvis Dement. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Phillip D. Baker, on April 3, 2010.
She attended Church of God of Prophecy and The City Mission Church, and was of the Baptist faith. She worked with her daughter at Cochran and Company Swimming Pools, at May’s Donut Shop and as a cook in many restaurants over the years.
She was preceded in death by sister, Gladys Marie Jarvis; stepsiblings, Gordon Jarvis, Richie Jarvis, Charlotte Moore and Barbara Moore; stepfather, John Dement; nephew Mark Strunk; and mother-in-law, Ruth Baker.
Survivors include Joyce Baker, of Ironton, Terri (Jim) Cochran, of Kitts Hill, and Dale (Megan) Baker, of Ironton; sister, Connie (Steve) Strunk, of Ironton; stepsiblings, Bob Dement, Larry Dement, Fred Dement, Betsy West and Gail Owens; grandchildren, Mandy (Derek) Moore, Sarah (Justin) Hyland, Staci (Ryan) Sias, Madison (Jason) Connett, Ashley (David) Abrams and Kathleen Baker; great-grandchildren, Mylie Moore, Derek Moore Jr., Noah Hyland, Maximus Hyland, Alexis Abrams, Brook Abrams and Michael Duran.
Visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home, Ironton. Funeral service will start at 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Cemetery.

 

James Ferguson

James Albert Ferguson, 70, of Raceland, Kentucky, died Saturday, Jan. 19, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Mitsue N. Ferguson. A celebration of life service will be 3 p.m. Thursday at Wildwood Church of God, Ashland, Kentucky, with pastor Steve Harris officiating.
