WILLOW WOOD — If a team commits 29 turnovers and shoots 15 percent from the field, it should be a loss.
Not if you play defense.
That’s what happened to the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings on Thursday as they shut down the Sciotoville East Lady Tartans 51-19.
Taylor Sells had a big all-around game for the Lady Vikings with 18 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots.
Rachael Hayes scored 13 points, Hailee Littlejohn had 10 points and nine rebounds and Jenna Malone added seven rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocks.
Sells and Hayes scored six points each in the first quarter and the defensive held East to just one basket and it was 12-2.
Sells, Hayes and Littlejohn combined for 13 points in the second quarter and the lead was 29-11 at the half.
Sells got seven points in the third quarter and the Lady Vikings extended the lead to 44-15.
The Lady Vikings (8-5, 4-5) emptied the bench in the fourth quarter as they cruised to the win.
Symmes Valley hosts Pt. Pleasant at 2 p.m. Saturday and visits St. Joseph on Monday.
