CHESAPEAKE — Shooting and defense got the Coal Grove Lady Hornets their 15th win over the season.
It also got Rick Roach his 100th career coaching win on Thursday.
Addi Dillow scored 19 points to lead the Lady Hornets 61-34 win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers to remain tied for first place in the Ohio Valley Conference.
“Our shooting was hot early. I felt we played good defense in the first half which created some transition opportunities for us,” said Roach.
“Dillow did a great job the whole game and either making the shot or dropping it off to the open person.”
Kaleigh Murphy added 11 points and Abbey Hicks nine points as Coal Grove improved to 15-4 and 10-2.
“(Chesapeake) ran a box-and-one on (Baylee) McKnight after her big game at Rock Hill. Honestly, I was kind of glad we saw a box. It gave my freshman (Hicks and Murphy) a chance to show their scoring ability,” said Roach.
Karli Davis scored 12 points to lead Chesapeake (8-12, 5-7). Maddi Ward added nine.
Dillow scored eight points as Coal Grovel took a 10-3 first quarter lead.
The Lady Hornets hit 7-of-15 floor shots in the second quarter to go up 26-11 at the half.
Hicks scored five points and Murphy and Dillow four each in the quarter.
Coal Grove extended its lead to 43-20 in the third quarter as Murphy scored six points and McKnight hit a 3-pointer. Sammie McComas had four points for Chesapeake.
The Lady Hornets outscored the Lady Panthers 18-14 in the fourth quarter as McKnight had five points and Hicks four.
