SOUTH POINT — Forget going to the mall. Emilee Carey prefers to go downtown.
Carey drained six 3-pointers as she scored 22 points in a 63-23 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Rock Hill Redwomen on Monday.
Carey hit four of her triples in the first quarter as South Point raced to a 22-4 lead. Ashley Perkey added four points to the Lady Pointers total.
The South Point lead ballooned to 39-8 at the half as Sarah Roach scored six of her eight points and Emilee Whitt got five more points.
South Point blew the game open in the third quarter as Carey hit two more treys and scored eight points as six different players scored to extend the lead to 57-9.
Rock Hill (5-15, 0-13) refused to quit as Rileigh Morris scored six points including a 3-pointer, Savannah Cade had a 3-pointer and Autumn Porter scored three points.
Perkey finished with 10 points and eight rebounds for South Point (15-5, 10-3). Whitt added nine points, four assists and three steals and both Kate Mundy and Roach scored eight.
Morris topped the Redwomen with nine points.
On Thursday, Rock Hill visits Fairland and South Point goes to Coal Grove.
