School offers support

On Friday, students at Fairland High School were treated to a fun event, as a result of their work for a good cause.
The school hosted a pep rally before its game against Chesapeake, and throughout the event, teachers and faculty performed in a series of amusing challenges, ranging from lip syncing to sleeping bag races.
The reason behind all of it was a successful fundraising effort for child protective services at Lawrence County Ohio Department of Job and Family Services.
Representatives of the agency were on hand at the event, where they received backpacks, filled with essential items for children taken into their custody.
Each department at the school agreed that its teachers would take part in the challenges, if their students raised $50.
In total, Fairland raised $350 for the effort and more fundraisers are planned.
We congratulate the students and faculty for a successful school-wide effort and for remembering the less fortunate who will benefit from their work.
