ROCKSPRINGS — You could almost hear Foreigner singing “You’re As Cold As Ice.”
The Smmyes Valley Lady Vikings suffered their worst shooting night of the season as they lost 62-32 to the Federal Hocking Lady Lancers in the Division IV sectional finals on Thursday.
The Lady Vikings shot just 12-of-66 from the field for 18 percent and missed all 13 of their 3-point attempts.
Symmes Valley led 7-2 early and then 9-5 when the Lady Lancers went on an 8-0 run to lead 13-9 and never trailed. It was 15-11 at the end of the quarter.
The Lady Vikings were down 15-13 early in the second quarter, but Federal Hocking ran off 10 unanswered points to go up 25-13 and pulled away to a 36-17 halftime lead.
The Lady Lancers led 50-28 after three quarters and the final score represented their largest lead of the game.
Symmes Valley (13-10) was paced by Jenna Malone with 12 points and Emily Johnson had 10 points and six rebounds. Hailee Littlejohn also had six rebounds.
Federal Hocking (9-13) was led by Emma Beha with 16 points, eight rebounds and seven blocked shots. Kylie Tabler had 17 points including five 3-pointers to go with eight rebounds and three steals.
Paige Tolson added 15 points, six assists and three steals.
Federal Hocking will now play Portsmouth Notre Dame in the district tournament at 6:15 p.m. next Thursday in Jackson.
