Delores Whitley

April 1, 1926 — Feb. 22, 2019

Delores “Dutch” Davidson Whitley, 92, of South Point, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, Feb. 22, 2019. She was born April 1, 1926, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Robert Lee and Myrtle Nease Davidson.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, Cecil R. Whitley; three sisters, Maxine Sloan, Eileen Sutton and Kathleen Sheppard; a brother, James Davidson; and a son-in-law, Ray Sloan.
Dutch attended the Sunrise Church of the Nazarene since she was seven years old and was a longtime resident of South Point.
Survivors include her daughter, Delores “Pug” Sloan, of Ironton; a sister, Elizabeth Austin, of South Point; two brothers, Robert Lee Davidson Jr. and Ronald (Katie) Davidson, both of South Point; one sister-in-law, Marilyn Davidson, of South Point; two grandsons, Joe (Julie) Sloan, of Elizabethtown, Kentucky, and Matt (Kelli) Sloan, of South Point; six great-grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with the Rev. Gary Henry officiating. Burial will follow at Highland Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from noon-1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sunrise Church of the Nazarene. Laura Riley

Laura Eloise Riley, 89, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, Feb 21, 2019 at her residence.
The Lawrence County native was born Sept. 1,
1929, a daughter of the late John Ed Lemasters and Grace Fetters Collins.
She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ernest “Jr” Riley.
Mrs. Riley attended Pedro High School, was a homemaker and a member of Woodland Chapel Church, where she loved going. She also liked going on
vacation, babysitting her grandchildren and great grandchildren and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Danny Ray Riley.
She is survived by a daughter, Ernestine “Tina” Mounts, of Ironton; a special granddaughter, Jennifer (Bobby) Ferguson, of Ironton; beautiful and wonderful great grandchildren, Jesse Lane, Jenna Lane and Aubrey Ferguson; and a special niece, Nancy (Ramey) Williams, of Covington, Kentucky.
Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Monday at Lawrence Furnace Cemetery with Bro. Dave Schug officiating. Friends may call from 10:45 a.m-12:45 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th St., Ironton, Ohio.

Scott Vaughn

July 26, 1968 — Feb. 20, 2019

Scott William Vaughn, 50, of Ironton, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2019 at Ohio State University Medical Center in Columbus.
The Ironton native was born July 26, 1968, a son of Gerald William and Jennifer Coburn Vaughn. He is also survived by his wife, Michelle Adams Vaughn, whom he married August 19, 1988.
Scott was a 1987 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a delivery driver for the John W. Clark Oil Company for more than 30 years. He attended the Ashland Vocational and Technical School, where he received his certification in Diesel Mechanics.
Scott enjoyed all of God’s creation, traveling, helping others, working on the farm and hunting and
fishing with his dad. Family was everything to him. Scott was a member of the Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Craig Vaughn; maternal grandparents, Charles and Shirley Coburn; paternal grandparents, Charles and Helen Dickess Vaughn; uncles, Bill, Russ, Carl, Ralph, and Joe Coburn, Jack Vaughn and Charles Vaughn; and aunts Nancy Huff and Mary Louise Stewart.
In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by a daughter, Allie (David) Skaggs, of Ironton; two grandchildren, Carleigh Scott Sutton and Cooper David Skaggs; a sister, Angela (Jim) Carey, of Coal Grove; a brother, Gregg (Georgia) Vaughn, of Ironton; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Glen and Barbara Adams, of Coal Grove; two sisters-in-law, Sandra (David) Skaggs, of Ironton, and Kristina
(Michael) Dirling, of Kitts Hill; nine nieces and nephews and 11 great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Ice Creek Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Todd Warner officiating. Burial will follow in the Vaughn-Coburn Family Cemetery and visitation will be 3-6 p.m. Sunday at Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. 6th St., Ironton.

Walter Cremeans

Walter Dale Cremeans, 56, of Ashland, Kentucky died Monday, Feb. 18, 2019.  He is survived by his wife, Melissa Crum Cremeans.  A celebration of life service will be held at a later date. William Short

William Perry Short, 66, of Raceland, Kentucky, died Thursday, Feb. 21, 2019, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Kentucky. He is survived by his wife, Zetta Arlene Castle Short, of Raceland. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Kentucky, with Rev. Bobby Castle and Rev. David Daniels officiating. Visitation will be on from 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
