FAYETTE TOWNSHIP — A South Point school bus was struck by a car on Tuesday in what troopers are calling “an extremely minor crash.”

The accident occurred on Charley Creek Road at about 3:15 p.m.

According to Sgt. Kevin Kobi, from the Ironton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a car struck the bus in the wheel area.

“It was very slow moving,” Kobi said.

He said the driver of the car mistakenly thought the bus driver wanted him to pass the bus while it was backing into a driveway.

No injuries were reported.

Only one student was on the bus at the time of the accident and was taken off and released to family.

Kobi said the driver was issued a citation for crossing a double yellow line.
