Frances Abrams

May 6, 1934 — March 8, 2019

Frances M. Jenkins Patrick Abrams, 84, of South Point, passed away peacefully Friday, March 8, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Kentucky. Mrs. Abrams was born May 6, 1934, in Lawrence County, a daughter to the late William and Carrie (Delong) Jenkins. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Patrick Jr., and her second husband, F.E. Abrams.
Mrs. Abrams attended Kitts Hill and Waterloo schools. Mrs. Abrams was a homemaker and enjoyed sewing and loved spending time with her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was of the Christian faith and attended the City Mission Church in Ironton and Slab Fork Church on John’s Creek.
In addition to her parents and husbands, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Ryan Reeder; three sisters, Florence Sites, Faye Norris and Norma Lee Jenkins; and a brother, Floyd Buddy Jenkins.
She is survived by three daughters, Patricia Patrick Abner, Debbie Patrick Stephens and Terry Patrick (Gary) Jenkins, all of Ironton; six grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Graveside service will be 1 p.m. today at Haverhill Cemetery, County Road 1, Haverhill, with the Rev. Jim Cremeans and the Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. There will be no public visitation and the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton, is assisting the family with arrangements. Edwin Haney

May 1, 1968 — March 7, 2019

Edwin Ray Haney, 50, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2019, at his residence. The Ironton native was born May 1, 1968, a son to the late Edwin E. and Allene (Whitt) Haney.
Mr. Haney was a 1986 graduate of Ironton High School. Eddie went on to graduate with his bachelor’s degree from Marshall University in 1990. He worked as a fiction writer since 1999. He wrote under the name John X. Grey. He published several novels, short stories and poems. He also won a national novel contest in 2010, 2011 and 2018.
Eddie is survived by three cousins, Beverly (David) Stapleton, of Ironton, Cathy (Tony) Scherer, of Ironton, and Charlie (Nancy) Haney, of Ironton; six second cousins, Cathy (Wes) White, of Ironton, David (Robyn) Stapleton, of Ironton, Heather (Mike) Freeman, of Ironton, Hollie Haney and Matt Stuntebeck, of Ironton, Chris (Amanda) Haney, of Ironton, and Katie (AJ) McKnight; and several extended family members.

Ruth Schneider

July 9, 1933 — March 9, 2019

Ruth Carol Schneider, 85, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, March 9, 2019, at Community Hospice Care Center. The Rappsburg native was born July 9, 1933, the daughter of the late Owen and Marjorie (White) Callicoat. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Carl Edward Schneider, who passed away in 1984.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home, Ironton, with pastor Brent Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in Ruth’s memory to the Community Hospice Care Center, 2330 Pollard Drive, Ashland, KY 41101. Penny Lou Pike

Penny Lou Pike, 58, of Huntington, West Virginia, died Sunday, March 10, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Schneider-Hall Funeral Home, Chesapeake. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home.
