Herd falls to USM, 82-73

FRISCO, TX — Tyree Griffin scored 23 points and Southern Miss pulled away late to beat the Marshall Thundering Herd 82-73 in the Conference USA quarterfinals on Thursday.
Jannson Williams had 22 points to lead the Marshall (19-14).
Jon Elmore had 18 points and C.J.Burks 10 for Marshall.
Elmore is now 19 points shy of the school’s all-time scoring record held by Skip Henderson at 2,574.
Elmore also led the Herd with eight rebounds and 11 assists.
Southern Miss led 42-38 at the half.
