Large, Music headline Divisions 3 & 4 All-Ohio selections

A total of 12 local basketball standouts earned All-Ohio honors led by Ironton Fighting Tigers’ 6-foot senior Charlie Large and Coal Grove Hornets’ 6-3 senior Aaron Music.
Large was named to the Division III second team while Music was a first team pick in Division IV.
Joining Large on the Div. III All-Ohio team announced Tuesday were Ironton’s 6-2 senior Ethan Wilson, Chesapeake Panthers’ 6-4 sophomore Eli Archer, Fairland Dragons’ 6-2 senior Matt Mondlak and 5-9 sophomore Clayton Thomas, and South Point Pointers’ 6-2 sophomore Austin Webb.
Wilson, Archer, Mondlak, Thomas and Archer were all honorable mention All-Ohio.
Five other players were on the Div. IV list with Music including Coal Grove’s 5-10 junior Cory Borders, St. Joseph Flyers’ 5-9 junior Zach Roach, Symmes Valley Vikings’ 6-3 junior Jack Leith and Green Bobcats’ 6-2 junior Gage Sampson and 5-10 senior Tanner Kimbler.
Leith and Sampson were special mention All-Ohio with Borders, Roach and Kimbler all honorable mention.
Large was a first team Southeast All-District selection as he averaged 19.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 1.4 steals on the season and helped Ironton to the district semifinals.
Music led the Hornets with 17 points a game and 8.6 rebounds with 3.2 assists and 1.8 steals. He had more than 1,000 points and 500 rebounds in his career and was the Southeast District Player of the Year as the Hornets reached the regional semifinals.
Wilson’s numbers were 12.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists and 2.2 steals. He was All-Ohio last season and scored more than 1,000 points in his career.
Archer posted 15.4 points, 7.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals on the season.
Fairland won the Ohio Valley Conference as Mondlak averaged 9.2 points, 3.2 rebounds and 2.1 assists a game while Thomas scored 10.1 points a contest with 3.3 assists.
Webb topped the Pointers with 14.3 points and 6.1 rebounds.
Borders was the top 3-point shooter for the Hornets and averaged 12.5 points and 3.4 rebounds a game.
Another outstanding 3-point shooter, Roach hit eight trifectas in one game for a school record and averaged 18.2 points per game.
Leith was a dominating force for the Vikings as he averaged 19 points and 11.8 rebounds. He also had 3.0 assists and 2.3 steals a game.
Sampson and Kimbler were the Bobcats inside and outside scoring tandem. Sampson averaged 19 points a game and led the team in rebounding while Kimbler averaged 20 points and eclipsed 1,000 career points.
