On Friday, Ohio University Southern was host to hundreds of high school freshman.

Lawrence County Business Advisory Committee, a group comprised of local businesses, the seven school boards in the county, the Briggs Lawrence County Public Library and OUS, sponsored its first ever career symposium, showing a multitude of paths graduates can take when they enter the workplace.

From technology options with Collins Career Technical Center, such as robotics, to the Equine Studies program at OUS, there was no shortage of options on display.

One of the most difficult things for students in high school is to decide on a career and then develop an education toward it.

For many, it may be a matter of simply not being aware of a job that would fit their interests.

Hopefully, Friday’s event planted some ideas in the heads of those attending.

By all accounts, this was a well-received event and we hope that it will grow and that more businesses and community members take part each year, helping to develop strong leaders for tomorrow.
