There will be a spring extranganza sale the first weekend in April in downtown Ironton.

Ironton aLive executive director Sam Heighton said the idea started with Patricia Coleman, the owner of Cardinal Wishes Antiques at 311 Vernon St., who was planning to have special sales at her store, which features antiques, some of which are consignment and some are Coleman’s upcycled pieces.

“I asked Patricia if she would care if the other downtown retailers joined in the sale event. She was delighted and downtown businesses are excited to take part,” Heighton said.

The sale days are April 5 and 6 and special hours on April 7, a Sunday when Cardinal Wishes is normally closed.

“Expect sales including sidewalk specials all over the downtown,” Heighton said.

With more vendors, Coleman expanded two stores over into the former One Main Financial building to make sure there was enough room for everybody in the two buildings.

She said there will definitely be something for everyone with antiques, primitives, shabby chic items, Pyrex and many one-of-a-kind items.

“We will have lots of vendors in both buildings with lots of treasures to kick off your spring shopping,” she said. “You don’t want miss this. I think this is a great way to kick off spring shopping in downtown Ironton, come join the shopping fun and savings”.

Cardinal Wishes opened two years ago in May 2017. The boutique got its name from a saying by owner Coleman’s grandmother.

“She said whenever you see a red cardinal, you were suppose to ‘blow it a kiss and make a wish,’” Coleman said. “So this is my wish.”
