Dawson-Bryant Elementary School was recognized by the Ohio School Boards Associations Southeast Region Spring Conference on March 19.

The school was named a High Progress School of Honor earlier this year and principal Angie Lafon and assistant principal Monica Mahlmeister were both in attendance at the association’s event at the Pike County Career Technology Center.

“They honored our district earlier and they gave us the award at the conference,” Mahlmeister said.

The distinction goes to schools that have sustained high achievement and substantial progress while serving a significant number of economically disadvantaged students.

In total, 66 schools in the state received the honor in 2018, 15 of which are from the southeast region.
