Venessa Buckel
Venessa Mae (Travis) Buckel, devoted wife and loving mother, 59, passed away and met her Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 23, 2019.

Venessa worked in the Treasury Department at Ashland Oil in Ashland, Kentucky, where she met her husband, Mark.
She was a homeschool mom and, while attending Lexington First Assembly Church, coached numerous Bible Quiz teams.

Venessa also worked with the afterschool program at Lansdowne Elementary School. More recently, she led the Children’s Ministry at Destiny Community Church, in addition to mentoring and teaching Morton Middle School students with 4Kids Faith Community Partnership Inc., a faith-based non-profit in Lexington.

She is survived by her husband, Mark Buckel; her parents, Garland and Frances Travis; three daughters, Leslie O’Bryan, Krista Locke and Audra Miller; two sons, Jeff Buckel and Micah Buckel; a sister, Auretta Hensley; a brother, Tod Travis; a half-sister, Mary Helen Travis; and five grandchildren.

A visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 29, followed by a Celebration of Life service at 11 a.m. at Lexington First Assembly, located at 2780 Clays Mill Road in Lexington, Kentucky.

Norma M. Clement
May 28, 1915 — March 25, 2019

Norma M. Frische Clement, 103, of Ashland, Kentucky, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, at the Hospice Care Center in Ashland.

The Ironton native was born May 28, 1915, the daughter of the late Homer and Gaynelle McKee Remy. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Willard “Bill” Clement, who passed away in 1988.

Graveside Services will be 1 p.m. Thursday in Section 17B of Woodland Cemetery with Pastor Frank Tate officiating. Burial will follow.

Kay Moore
Kay Moore, 81, of South Point, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at River’s Bend Healthcare Center, South Point.

Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Meredith ‘Murph’ Bloomfield
Nov. 4, 1946 – March 25, 2019

Meredith “Murph” Bloomfield, 72, of Pedro, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, at his residence.

Mr. Bloomfield was born Nov. 4, 1946, in Ironton, a son to the late Harry and Rose (Pemberton) Bloomfield. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Linda Fields Bloomfield.

Murph was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and received his associate degree from Ashland Business College. Murph was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the Vietnam war. He went on to work as a steel worker at AK Steel for 34 years and also served as a grievance committeeman for the Local Steel Workers 1865 He enjoyed spending most of his time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, vowing never to miss one of their games or events. He was a member of VFW 8850, Knights of Columbus and St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a daughter, Christi Martin, of Pedro; two sons, Scott (Cindy) Bloomfield and Jason (Beth) Bloomfield, all of Pedro; a brother, Kevin (Crystal) Bloomfield, of Kitts Hill; seven grandchildren, Amber (Brandon) Crisp, Amanda (Seth) Kuehne, Dylan (Cammie) Melvin, Darin Bloomfield, Abigail Bloomfield, Devin Bloomfield and Derik Bloomfield; eight great grandchildren, Madigrace Kuehne, Brokk Crisp, Connor Kuehne, Annie Crisp, Jack Kuehne, Olivia Melvin, Alaina Crisp and Aria Crisp.

Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery, 100 Veterans Memorial Dr., Greenup County, Kentucky, with Father David Huffman and Rev. Kevin Bloomfield. Military graveside rites will be conducted by VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1p.m. at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, 518 S. Sixth St., Ironton.

Loretta Smith
Loretta May Smith, 83, of Wayne, West Virginia, passed away Monday, March 25, 2019, at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia. She is survived by her husband, Glen Smith.

A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller. There will be no visitation held.
