FLATWOODS, Ky. — The Kentucky neighbors weren’t very friendly.
The Coal Grove Lady Hornets dropped back-to-back game on Tuesday and Wednesday as they lost 9-2 to the Ashland Kittens and 14-4 to the Russell Lady Red Devils in five innings.
Against Russell, Coal Grove had nine hits led by Lauren Crum who went 2-2 with a run batted in. Destiny Napier had an RBI triple and Rylee Harmon was 2-3.
Russell (5-1) was led by Lilly Holland who was 2-3 with a double and three RBI and Makayla Fraley who was 3-4 with a double and two RBI.
Grace Osborn went 2-3 with a double and two RBI and Haven Layne 2-4 and two RBI.
Layne got the win as she struck out two and walked two.
On Tuesday, Coal Grove (0-3) led 2-0 after two innings before Ashland scored three runs in each of the next three innings.
Addi Dillow went 2-3 with a double and an RBI to pace Coal Grove. Harmon was 1-2 with a double.
Camryn Cassidy was 3-3 with two doubles at the plate and picked up the win as she struck out eight and did not walk a batter.
Lauren Spears had a home run for Ashland and Kenzi Robinson a two-run double.
