CHESAPEAKE — It was a doubleheader and it almost looked like an instant replay.
The Green Bobcats posted a pair of easy wins over the Chesapeake Panthers on Saturday, 10-1 and 15-1.
“We had two really well-pitched games, especially Tanner Kimbler. We had some big offensive games as well. We had 11 hits and 13 hits in the two games and some individuals who had big games. We made only one error so it was a good day for us,” said Green coach Dan McDavid.
Kimbler pitched a two-hitter in the first game as he struck out 16 and walked just one. Bryce Ponn was 2-2 with a double and three runs batted in, Mason Barber 2-4 and a double and Caden Brammer 3-4.
The Bobcats (4-1) got a run in the first when Tayte Carver walked, stole second and scored on Bryce Ponn’s double.
Green added a run in the second on a single by Barber, a stolen base and Brammer’s base hit.
The Bobcats then put the game away with eight runs in the sixth.
Carver singled, Ponn was hit by a pitch, Levi Singled had an RBI single and Mason Barber doubled in a run.
Brammer singled for a run, Trevor Darnell was safe on an error to load the bases and Eli Webb hit into a force play for an RBI. Kimbler singled in two runs, Carver walked, and Ponn had a two-run single.
The Panthers only run came in the fourth on a bunt single by Trent Dearth, an errant pickoff play and a missed third strike.
In the second game, the Bobcats rolled to a five-inning win as Trevor Darnell won his starting pitching debut.
Green virtually settled the outcome with nine runs in the first inning.
Webb singled, stole second and Kimbler singled. Carver walked and a balk put runners and second and third. Ponn’s ground out scored a run.
Singleton and Barber single for a run. Brammer was hit by a pitch, Darnell singled in a run and Webb had a two-run single.
Kimbler tripled for two more runs, Carver walked, Ponn was hit by a pitch and Singleton walked to force in the final run.
Chesapeake scored on a single by Thomas Sente and Travis Grim’s triple.
In the second, Brammer and Darnell walked and Carpenter was hit by a pitch. Webb had an infield hit for a run and Kimbler walked for the second run.
Four more runs scored in the third.
