ASHLAND, Ky. — Someone must have turned on the buzz saw.
The St. Joseph Flyers ran into the proverbial buzz saw on Wednesday as they lost to the Lewis County Lions 10-0 in five innings.
“They’re a pretty good team. It’s that simple,” said Flyers’ coach Greg Bryant. “We’ll just have to bounce back.”
St. Joseph (9-2) could only manage a fourth inning single by Jackson Rowe.
The Lions used two walks, an RBI single by Randy Irey, a double by Mark Sparks and an error to score three runs in the first inning.
The lead went to 8-0 in the third when Irey doubled in a run after a walk and then Sparks, Jason Gilbert and Logan Liles all singled.
Wyatt Yates stole home for the fifth run.
Lewis County (6-8) got a run in the fourth on two errors.
