SCIOTOVILLE — The St. Joseph Flyers kind of went Wilds.
Chase Wilds threw four strong innings and went 3-4 at the plate as the Flyers beat the Sciotoville East Tartans 15-6 on Thursday.
Wilds worked four innings, struck out six, walked none, gave up three hits and of the four runs he allowed only one was earned. He also went 3-4 at the plate.
Izsak Unger went 2-for-4 with a double and a run batted in as the Flyers collected 10 hits.
St. Joseph (10-2) went up 3-0 in the second inning.
Wilds walked, stole second and went to third on a fly out where he scored on Jimmy Mahlmeister’s ground out.
Michael Mahlmeister walked and courtesy runner Andrew White moved up on two wild pitches and scored when Max Weber reached on an error. Weber scored when Jackson Rowe was safe on an error.
The Flyers opened up an 8-0 lead in the third.
Wilds was safe on an error and Ryan Payne singled to put runners on the corners. Payne stole second and Wilds scored on a wild pitch. Jimmy Mahlmeister walked and Michael Mahlmeister singled in a run.
Weber grounded out as a run scored and Unger came up with an RBI double to cap the rally.
The lead went to 9-0 in the four when Wilds singled, moved up on an error, took third on a wild pitch and Payne hit a sacrifice fly.
East scored four runs in the bottom of the inning but the Flyers got them back in the sixth to lead 13-4.
Isaak Whaley singled, stole second and came around to score on an error.
Wilds singled, Payne walked and Jimmy Mahlmeister reached on an error to score Wilds. Michael Mahlmeister singled in a run and Weber grounded out as a run scored.
St. Joseph added two runs in the seventh.
Rowe was hit by a pitch, Whaley walked, Wilds singled to load the bases, Payne grounded out for an RBI and Whaley scored on an error.
East scored a run in the sixth and seventh innings.
