Just this week, Dan Palmer, the executive director of the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District, announced that Caught Green Handed is back.

The program is the solid waste district’s way of spotlighting people who are doing good for the community, whether it be recycling or picking up the abundant amount of trash off the sides of the roads.

If someone is Caught Green Handed, the solid waste district rewards them with a T-shirt, a bag of goodies like pens and hand sanitizer, as well as a gift card. They will also get their picture taken and it will run in The Tribune.

We commend everyone who takes the time to use the solid waste district’s recycle bins and we especially appreciate those who use some of their free time to clean up other people’s trash out of ditches and the sides of the roads.

And we appreciate that the Lawrence-Scioto Solid Waste Management District has brought back Caught Green Handed after a hiatus of several years with the support of Lawrence County Commissioner DeAnna Holliday who donated the first gift card.

So many people are trying to improve the first impression of Lawrence County and it’s good to see some will be rewarded for their good work.
