Lady Tigers roll by Blue Angels, 14-4

GALLIPOLIS — Sometimes you just gotta win ugly.
In a game that featured 14 errors, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers rolled past the Gallipolis Blue Angels 14-4 in a six-inning Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.
Despite the errors, Keegan Moore pitched a four-hitter with eight strikeouts and one walk. None of the runs were earned.
Ironton (15-1, 8-0) had 11 hits as Peighton Rowe, Taiya Hamlet, Demi Sands, Riley Schreck and Kylee Richendollar all had two hits. Rowe, Hamlet and Sands all had doubles and Mary Beth Burton belted a home run.
Ironton took a 3-0 lead in the top of the first inning.
Burton, Peighton Rowe and Hamlet all reached on errors for a run, Sands singled in a run and Hamlet stole home.
Gallipolis got a run back in the bottom of the inning but Ironton erupted for nine runs in the third.
Rowe and Hamlet singled and Sands walked. Moore was hit by a pitch to force in a run and Schreck was safe on an error to clear the bases.
Haylee Stevens walked and Richendollar had an RBI single. Burton then unloaded a three-run homer.
Hamlet singled, moved up on an error and scored on Sands’ base hit.
The Blue Angels got three runs in the bottom of the inning but Ironton scored twice in the sixth to end the game early.
Rowe doubled to begin the inning and scored when Hamlet doubled. Hamlet went to third on a ground out and scored on Moore’s sacrifice fly.
