Walks, errors doom Fighting Tigers

GALLIPOLIS — Christmas came early.
The Gallipolis Blue Devils used 11 walks, two hit batsmen and four errors to beat the Ironton Fighting Tigers 10-0 in a five inning Ohio Valley Conference game on Wednesday.
Gallipolis took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Brendan Carter and Josh Faro walked, pulled off a double steal and Cade Roberts grounded out as the run scored.
The lead went to 3-0 in the second inning.
Andrew Toler walked, Trent Johnson was hit by a pitch, Cole Davis walked and Wyatt Sipple singled home two runs.
Gallipolis used six walks, two errors, a passed ball and singles by Carter and Sipple to score six runs in the fourth to lead 9-0.
The final run in the fifth was the result of a walk, hit batsman and an error.
Gallipolis had just three hits with Sipple going 2-3 and three runs batted in.
Cameron Deere was 1-1 with a double and Gage Salyers 1-3 to account for Ironton’s hits.
