Lady Vikings’ offense creates lopsided win

AID — The Symmes Valley Lady Vikings kicked off their cleats and put on their hitting shoes.
The Lady Vikings had 16 hits as they beat the Western Lady Indians 19-2 in a Southern Ohio Conference game on Thursday.
“We got to play a lot of players and everyone contributed,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Jeff “Odie” Estep.
Morgan Jenkins went 3-3 witih a double, Sarah Kingery 2-3 with a triple and two runs batted in, Emily Estep 2-3 with a double and four RBI, Ericca Ross 2-3 with two doubles and four RBI and Rachael Hayes 2-4 and an RBI.
Kingery got the pitching win as she allowed just three hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
The Lady Vikings (9-5, 6-3) took a 2-0 lead in the first inning.
With one out, Morgan Jenkins singled and Kingery tripled her home. Kara Saunders followed with an RBI single.
The Lady Vikings erupted for eight runs in the second inning.
Emily Sharp and Kelsie Gothard singled and Hayes was safe on an error as a run scored. Jenkins singled in a run and Kingery singled home two more runs.
Emily Estep singled in a run and Ross doubled home two runs.
The lead went to 17-2 in the third.
With two outs, Gothard walked, Hayes singled and Jenkins walked. Kingery singled in a run and Saunders was safe on an error to load the bases. Estep then doubled to clear the bases.
Ross later added a two-run double.
The two finals runs scored in the fourth.
Maggie Wise was safe on an error, Mackenzie Daniels was hit by a pitch, Kylee Thompson reached on an error and Hailee Gordon got a two-run single.
