Fast start propels Lady Pointers

PROCTORVILLE — Sometimes, getting a fast start makes it hard to catch up.
The South Point Lady Pointers jumped out to a big early lead and went on to beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 7-1 in an Ohio Valley Conference game on Monday.
South Point went up 3-0 in the first inning.
Kylee Ellison walked, stole second and scored on a hit by Jill Aylsworth. An error sent Aylsworth to second and she scored on a hit by Sara Allen. Another error allowed Allen to reach second and Megan Epperly got an RBI single.
The Lady Pointers got three more runs in the third to lead 6-0.
Ellison singled, stole second and scored on Allen’s double. Allen stole third, Holly Ramey walked and stole second, and Emily Byrd delivered a two-run single.
Fairland got its run in the fourth when Alyssa White reached on a fielder’s choice and pinch-runner Chloe Cremeans scored on a hit by Emily Bowen.
The Lady Pointers got that run back in the fifth as Ramey doubled and scored on a passed ball.
Allen went 3-4 with a double and Ramey was 1-3 with a double to lead the Lady Pointers.
Hallie Clark was 2-3 and Libby Judge 2-4 to pace the Lady Dragons.
