Ironton painter’s work on display at library: Exhibit runs until May 11

A collection of paintings by Ironton artist Helen Sellers is on display at Briggs Lawrence County Public Library’s main branch until May 11.

Helen Sellers is a self-taught artist who began painting when she retired in 1995.  She was born on a farm at Franklin Furnace and lived and worked in Cleveland. She moved to Ironton in 1996, where she enjoyed gardening and painting.

Helen’s son, Mike Sellers, is a professional artist for DC Comics in New York.

Helen is a member of the Tri-State Arts Association in Huntington and was president of the Ironton Artists Association for several years.

In 2018, she had four major surgeries and is now getting around with the help of a walker. She said she hopes to be able to drive again soon and is so grateful that she had her art to help her through the long months of recovery.

The library is located at 321 S. Fourth Street in Ironton.
