PROCTORVILLE — They say when you have your health, you have everything.
The Fairland Lady Dragons’ pitchers are getting healthy and because of that they got a 10-5 Ohio Valley Conference win over the Chesapeake Lady Panthers on Monday.
Emily Bowen and Adrianna Hoffman combined on a three-hitter as Fairland got its first conference win.
“We are finally starting to get our pitching rotation healthy,” said Fairland coach Scott Wilson.
“Bowen has been battling a back injury during the season. When she gets going, we are a good softball team. Adrianna pitched a great couple of innings and Bowen came in to close it out.”
The Lady Dragons had six hits and Emily Bowen and Libby Judge took care of almost all that all by themselves. Bowen was 3-4 with a double and a triple while Judge was 2-4 with a double.
“Both Libby Judge and Emily Bowen hit the ball well tonight,” said Wilson.
Jordan Storms went 1-3 with a double for Chesapeake.
Chesapeake took a 2-0 to start the game when Katy Spears and Ryleigh Swann both walked and scored on Storms’ double.
Fairland tied the game in the third.
Judge singled and scored on Bowen’s double. Josey Hamlin then singled in Bowen.
Fairland erupted for six runs in the fifth to lead 8-2.
Olivia Combs, Hallie Lester and Holli Leep all walked. Combs and Lester scored on a passed ball and Judge had an RBI double. Chloe Cremeans singled and both runners scored on Bowen’s triple. Hoffman then hit a sacrifice fly.
The Lady Panthers came back to get three runs in the sixth.
Storms and Ericka Bowman walked and scored on consecutive singles by Zowie Rollins and Samantha Heffner. Cheyenne Ferrell reached on an error as the final run scored.
The Lady Dragons got two runs back in the bottom of the inning.
Lester walked and pinch-runner Hallie Clark scored on Jordan Boling’s base hit. Leep was hit by a pitch and Cremeans drove in a run with a sacrifice bunt.
