GREENUP, Ky. — Braidy Atlas has announced on Monday it will collaborate with BMW to supply aluminum to the car maker’s plant in South Carolina.

The aluminum mill and BMW is working on the creation of a plan for cooperation with sustainability and technical/qualification for the future supply of series 5000x and 6000x automotive aluminum sheet. Included is a comprehensive closed-loop recycling strategy leveraging Braidy Atlas’ logistically optimal location in Ashland, Kentucky and in close proximity to BMW’s car production plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Braidy Atlas recently announced its intention to become the first North American rolling mill to use 100 percent green inputs from inception. As the first U.S. rolling mill to obtain a low-emissions air permit from the Federal EPA, Braidy has targeted 20 percent lower emissions than competitors.

Braidy Atlas, a partnership of Braidy Industries and United Company RUSAL, is building the first new U.S. greenfield rolling mill in 37 years. Braidy Atlas is also the first North American mill that will exclusively use high-quality, low-carbon prime aluminum inputs.
