ROME TOWNSHIP — Representatives from Area Agency on Aging District 7 and the Sybene-Chesapeake Senior Center met with the Lawrence County Commission in May to proclaim May as Older Americans Month in Lawrence County.

The commissioners signed the proclamation at the annual Senior Day at the Lawrence County Fairgrounds, which was organized by the senior center.

Each May, Ohio joins the nation in observing Older Americans Month. This year’s theme for Older Americans Month is “Connect, Create, Contribute.”

The Area Agency on Aging District 7 joins the Ohio Department of Aging, local providers and senior centers, and other important partners in the aging network in recognizing older adults and the people who serve and support them.

In 2018, the Area Agency on Aging District 7 served 1,162 Lawrence Countians.
