Barbara Jenkins

Aug. 30, 1937– May 24, 2019

Barbara Ann Jenkins, 81, of Galion, passed away suddenly on Friday, May 24, 2019 at her home in Galion.

Barbara was born in Detroit, Michigan on Aug. 30, 1937 to the late Charles “Fred” and Evelyn C. (McCleese) Walters. She married Lawrence “Larry” “Gene” Jenkins on Dec. 7, 1967 and he preceded her in death on May 12, 2015.

Barbara spent most of her life as a homemaker, taking care of her family. She was a former employee of the Atwood Nursing Home. Barbara loved to do many things such as collecting pictures, word search puzzles and going to craft shows. Barbara had the “gift to gab,” where she loved to talk and knew no stranger on her many trips to Walmart. She enjoyed watching Jeopardy! She was a family historian buff and loved to collect family history.

Barbara is survived by her children, Vicky Nelson, of Galion, Guy and Judy Bundy, of Galion, Judy Speakman, of Ontario, Mark and Michelle Jenkins, of Willard; her grandchildren, Amy Vance, Tammy Bundy and Erin O’Brien, Angie and Steve McKay, Lea and Derek Beck, Amanda and Dan DeVault, Ashley and Jordan Jenkins, Dylan Jenkins, and Seth Kimberlin; her great-grandchildren, Cassandra Vance, Gabrian Sharp, Keanu Jenkins, and Kensington Jenkins; her great-great-grandson, Liam Davis; her siblings, Fred ‘Buck” Walters, of Sandusky, Buddy and Sharon Walters, of Galion, Donna “Sis” and Gary “Doc” Jenkins, of Galion, Jack and Connie Walters, of Galion, and Mike and Barb Walters, of Galion; and her sister-in-law Judy Jenkins (John Holston), of Franklin Furnace.

In addition to her husband and parents, Barbara was preceded in death by an infant sister, Beverly Walters; and two sisters, Sharon Harmon and Judy Castle.

Friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, 303 Portland Way N. Galion. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Schneider-Gompf Funeral Home, Galion, with Elder Buddy Walters officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Lee Wright

Lee E. Wright, 83, of Scottown, died Wednesday, May 22, 2019 at The Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House, Huntington, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his wife, C. Joyce Wright.

Funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Doris Akers

Doris Jean Akers, 87, of Proctorville, died Thursday, May 23, 2019 at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her husband, James P. Akers.

Visitation will be held 6–7 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. A graveside service will be held at noon Tuesday at Newark Memorial Gardens, 4244 Marion Road, Newark, with burial to follow.

Dretta Green

Dretta Green, 86, of Crown City, died Friday, May 24, 2019.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Miller Memorial Gardens, Miller.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
