First Friday to celebrate historic church on June 7

ASHLAND — Downtown Ashland will celebrate the historic First Presbyterian Church during First Friday on June 7, as the downtown landmark turns 200 years old.

The event will run from 5 p.m. until midnight and the downtown block party features a cruise-in, live music, an outdoor beer garden, extended downtown shopping hours and children’s activities.

Coinciding with First Friday is the bicentennial celebration of the First Presbyterian Church. Located in the heart of downtown Ashland at 1600 Winchester Avenue, the historic landmark and downtown architectural beauty hosts weekend-long activities to honor its 200-year-old past.

First Presbyterian will host tours of the church from 5-9 p.m. along with scheduled fellowship activities. A free stained glass activity kit and suckers will be given to the first 50 children.

Getfiddle Custom Shop will feature a live set by Holly Forbes and Emmy Davis. The Camayo Arcade will feature a live performance by Shelby Lore. There will be a complimentary wine and mimosa bar.

Children’s inflatables are located on Judd Plaza and 16th Street and are hosted by BC Tool & Party Rental. Inflatable jumping is unlimited during the event and is $5 per child.

The Fat Patty’s Beer Garden, located on 15th Street adjacent to the restaurant, will feature outdoor seating along with craft and domestic beer options. Live music will be performed by Hale and High Water beginning at 6 p.m. and The Larry Whitt Band at 8 p.m.
