Braxton Vaughn was set to undergo another round of chemo on Friday.

The five-year-old South Point resident, the son of Marissa Matt and Scott Vaughn, was first diagnosed with brain cancer in 2017, for which he was successfully treated.

But, recently, the doctors informed the family that the cancer was back, requiring another surgery and chemo.

On Tuesday, the Lawrence County community came out to give Braxton their support, with a parade in his honor taking place at the Burlington fire station.

It featured two of his loves, fire trucks, from multiple departments throughout the Tri-State, and Batman, portrayed by Heroes 4 Higher’s John Buckland.

The event also served as a fundraiser for the family.

It was a great display of the spirit of the county and a message that, in tough times, one is never alone.

We commend the Fayette Volunteer Fire Department and the Concerned Citizens of Burlington for organizing it.

We wish Braxton well in his treatment and, as Buckland said, believe he will be “twice as strong” the second time.
