Nora Smith
Jan. 3, 1930 – June 13, 2019
Nora J. Smith, 89, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019, at a local nursing home facility. Mrs. Smith was born Jan. 3, 1930, in Ironton; a daughter of the late Cecil R. and Georgia (Stephenson) McDaniel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Ralph B. Smith.
Nora was a graduate of Ironton High School and was a homemaker. She enjoyed singing gospel music and spending time with family and friends. Nora was of the Christian faith and attended the Ironton City Mission Church.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Aspen Hope Smith.
She is survived by a son: Robert E. Smith of South Point; a daughter, Leeanna (Cliff) Back of Ironton; grandchildren, Robert E. (Chasity) Smith, II, Danielle (Eddie) Sexton, Cindy (Gary) Lowe, Becky Langdon, Michael (Ruby) Crabtree; great-grandchildren, Chelse Lowe, Cody Langdon, Sarah (Kris) Pinkerman, Levi Langdon and Kaitlyn Crabtree, Brianna Rose Sexton, Kyleigh McNeeley, Brayden Sexton, Kennedie Smith, Addyson Sexton and Graham Smith; and great-great-grandchildren, Montgomery Lowe, Tate Bodmer, Kaiden Pinkerman and Luna Langdon, due in July.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Rev. Jeff Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be 11 a.m. Tuesday until time of the service at the funeral home.

David Fugett
Feb. 28, 1962 – June 13, 2019
David Lee Fugett, 57, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Campus, Ironton. David was born Feb. 28, 1962 in Ironton, where he resided all his life. He was a son of the late John Dee and Kathrine Gullett Fugett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Johnny Ray and James Calvin Fugett; and one grandchild.
David attended Ironton Schools and was a former employee of McDonald’s.
David is survived by three children, Patsy Birchfield of Coal Grove, Kathrine (Marty) Browning of Ironton, and David Ray Fugett of Portsmouth; two grandchildren; the mother of his children, Bertha Fugett; five brothers, Garland Fugett of Coal Grove, Charles (Donna) Fugett of Ironton, Donald Jay Fugett of Ironton, Gary (Connie) Fugett of Ashland, Kentucky and Mark Fugett of South Point; four sisters, Linda (Jim) Tate of Heath, Mary (Chuck) Delawder of Ironton, Loretta Thompson of Ironton, and Donna (B.J.) Blair of Coal Grove; and many nieces and nephews.
There will be no services per David’s request.

Timothy Stapleton
Timothy “Fat Boy” Stapleton, 53, died on Monday, June 10, 2019.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St., Ironton, with Brother Mark Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in Mamre Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Allen McConnell
Allen Thomas McConnell, 87, of Pedro, died Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Helen McConnell.
A graveside service will be held 2 p.m. Monday at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery North East, Grayson, Kentucky with burial to follow. There will be no visitation.

Willie Buzzy Meade, 56, of Branchland, West Virginia, died Tuesday June 11, 2019.
Funeral service will be held 5 p.m. Tuesday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville. Visitation will be held from 4-5 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bryan Nunley, 54, of Proctorville, died Wednesday June 12, 2019, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington, West Virginia.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville,. Visitation will be held two hours before the service on Sunday at the funeral home. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday at Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Veteran’s Cemetery in Dunbar, West Virginia.
