A new party venue in Ironton offers a magical environment for birthdays and get togethers.

Steffiny Ray and Carrie Bernhardt opened Fairytales and Wishing Wells in the spring.

“We’re just getting started,” Ray said. “We’re a new business and we wanted to bring life to downtown Ironton.”

The two decorated the venue, located at 206 S. Third St. in the former Marlow Theater building, in a princess theme, with Disney characters adorning the walls and props such as a wishing well on hand.

In addition to birthday parties, they have hosted twice a month princess luncheons, allowing the public to come by and, for $10 per child, they can take part in a banquet with food, cupcakes and other desserts.

On Saturday, two Ironton High school students, Maddie Foster and Madison Kelly, portrayed Elsa and Anna from Disney’s “Frozen.”

As the luncheon wrapped up, they received requests for hugs and photos from the young children, some of whom were enjoying the experience so much, they vocally did not want to leave.

Bernhardt said they have numerous characters available for events, ranging from princesses to Paw Patrol, Peppa the Pig, superheroes, Minions and Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

They said the typical package comes with one character and customers can add more.

They also provide costumes, such as dresses and tiaras for the children to wear, and offer fingerpainting and games.

The two have been friends for years prior to launching the business.

“We have an interest in adding to downtown Ironton,” Ray said.

“And we’re girls and we like princesses,” Bernhardt said.

They said they are planning future events, such as a Mom’s Night Out, and they will also be taking part in a fundraiser for veterans, working with the nearby Party Place, to collect items for veterans from 1-5 p.m. on June 29.

They said the experience of running the venue has been great for them so far.

“We love it,” Ray said.

“Every child has left here excited,” Bernhardt said.

Fairytales and Wishing Wells is available for booking seven days a week. For more information on the venue and a schedule of upcoming luncheons and events , visit their Facebook page or call 740-464-6219.
