Helen Imes

Oct. 28, 1934 – June 15, 2019

Helen P. Imes, 84, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2019, at Woodland Oaks Nursing Home, Ashland, Kentucky. The Lawrence County native was born Oct. 28, 1934, to the late Ivan L. Imes and Clara Amelia Walk Imes.

Helen attended Deering schools and was a housekeeper for Lawrence County General Hospital for several years. In Helen’s spare time, she enjoyed sewing, working crossword puzzles and shopping. She loved cooking for her family and loved the time she able to spend with them.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 15 brothers and sisters.

She is survived by a son, William (Valinda) Imes of Ashland, Kentucky; a granddaughter, Jessica (Charles) Queen of Hurricane, West Virginia; and two great-granddaughters, Willow and Kyleigh Queen of Hurricane, West Virginia.

A memorial service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family. Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. 7th Street, Ironton, is assisting the family with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers make a donation in Helen’s honor to Community Hospice, 1480 Carter Ave., Ashland, KY, 41101.

Lucille Byrd

Lucille Byrd, 94, of Ironton, went to be with the Lord on June 16, 2019.

She is survived by a son, Randy (Sharon) Byrd, of Ironton; and a daughter, Brenda (Roger) Salyers, of Ironton. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Joella (Rick) Barber, Kasey (John) Kirkpatrick, Tommy (Chelsey) Russell, Melissa (Ryan) Abdon and Jennifer (Michael) Byrd; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; and by two special people in her life, whom she loved dearly, Kevin George and Roger Richendollar.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Byrd; and one son.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor Glen Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in Buckeye Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Dorothy Matkins

Dorothy Marybelle Long Matkins, 79, of Pedro, died Sunday, June 16, 2019, at the home of her daughter.

Funeral service will be 5:30 p.m. Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point, with Pastor Greg Frasure officiating. Burial will follow at Matkins Family Cemetery, Pedro. Visitation will be 4-5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty Koehler

Betty Jane Koehler, 89, of South Point, died Sunday, June 16, 2019 at Heartland of Riverview, South Point.

Funeral Service will be noon Friday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow at White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville, West Virginia. Visitation will be 6 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Friday.
