Impact Prevention and Ironton aLive are planning three days of summer fun next week.

The groups will host Parks Alive from Monday through Wednesday at Etna Street Park, located at North Fourth and Etna streets in Ironton.

The event will run from 11 a.m.-2p.m. and will feature a free lunch each day, as well as games, prizes and a skateboard contest.

Family and child serving agencies will also be present with information and activities.

This event follows another community activity by Impact, which took place on Thursday.

Despite the intense heat, more than 100 people turned out for the Community Health Fair and Cook Out.

The event took place at the Riverhills Community Building located at 628 S. Ninth St. in Ironton.

“We had 10 agencies here,” Susan Heald, coordinator for the Riverhills Community, said.

She said Ohio University Southern, Lawrence County Developmental Disabilities, the Ironton Police Department and Appalachian Children First Council were among those there

“The mayor and her assistant were here, and we had face painting, hot dogs and hamburgers,” she said.

The group has hosted the event for several years as a way to bring the community together.

Impact Prevention is a state-licensed prevention agency that works with local schools and youth and the fair spins out of the youth empowerment summer camp the group puts on each summer.
