CINCINNATI — The Reds Hall of Fame & Museum presented by Dinsmore continues its 2019 bobblehead program in July, celebrating former outfielder Gus Bell.
Bell played for the Reds for nine seasons from 1953 to 1961 and was a four-time All-Star. During the 1956 season, he hit 29 home runs including three in one game on consecutive at-bats.
In addition to his strong bat, Bell was one of the most gifted defensive outfielders of his era, regularly placing among the National League’s leaders in putouts, assists and fewest errors committed.
Bell’s baseball legacy was carried on by his son Buddy and grandsons David and Mike. They are one of only five three-generation families to play in Major League Baseball and the only three-generation family to play for the Reds.
Bell was inducted into the Reds Hall of Fame in 1964, and we honor the 55th anniversary of his induction with this exclusive bobblehead.
The bobbleheads are free with regular-price admission to the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum (or a Great American Ball Park tour) beginning Saturday, July 6 at 10 a.m., and will be available Saturdays and Sundays throughout the month of July, while supplies last.
The bobblehead series continues through September with a different Reds legend available each month:
• May: Pat Moran (available only with museum membership)
• June: Joe Nuxhall (available only with museum membership)
• July: Gus Bell
• August: Vada Pinson
• September: Ted Kluszewski
• Member-exclusive George Wright (available with all levels of HOF membership)
Admission to the Reds Hall of Fame and Museum is $12 for adults, $8 for students/seniors, free for children 12 and under, courtesy of the H.C.S. Foundation, and free for active military/veterans, courtesy of the Sargent Family Foundation.
The best way to ensure a bobblehead is to join the museum as a member. To become a member, please visit RedsMuseum.org for more information or call (513) 765-7926.
