Get out and enjoy the fair

Today is Thursday and the Lawrence County Fair has been in full swing for nearly a week.

While everyone enjoys the rides and the food, we would like to remind everyone of the main reason for the events existence: the many projects by members of 4-H.

Each year, 4-Hers bring the animals they have raised to the fair, as well as participate in events such as the Skillathon and the presentation of projects in various categories.

We encourage anyone attending to stop by the main barn during the animal events and cheer these members on as they win in the judging competitions throughout the week.

And, more importantly, we urge individuals and businesses to attend the auction on Saturday, in which 4-Hers sell their animals. All of the proceeds from these projects go directly to the individual members.

These funds are much appreciated and help to pay for the next year’s projects or things such as a first car or college.

All support is welcomed and appreciated.

And, finally, we would like to extend a thank you to those who have helped us with fair coverage this week.

Rachel Fraley and members of the Junior Fair Board have been providing us with information and results as competitions take place.

And Kayla Niece, who is the official fair photographer this year, has been shooting for The Tribune and has been a joy to work with.

We thank all of them for helping us bring the news to you this week.
